After Rodney Smith Jr. found out that an elderly woman nearby was mowing her own lawn, he stepped in to help.

“We did this sweet lady’s lawn today,” he wrote on Facebook. The image below was also posted.

But there’s more to this story than just a pair of lawn mowers helping out an elderly woman in need. There’s a whole group of people doing good in the community.

Rodney Smith is the founder of Raising Men Lawn Care Service. Him and his team are helping out as much as they can.

Not surprising the internet is loving the news of these good Samaritans.

Since it was posted on April 23, 2016, the image has been Liked by 1 million people and shared more than 175,000 times.

The Facebook page has other posts showing how the team is coming together to make a difference:

Speaking to Upworthy, Smith explained that he launched his organization so elderly folks, single parents, and people with disabilities could still have well-kept lawns free of charge.

“The typical response is tears of joy,” Smith said.

The group only began in December 2015 and in that short time 20 young people have mowed over 300 lawns. As Smith states on the Raising Men’s Facebook page, the group also helps the youths that are joining in with the work:

“I want to restore the importance and understanding of giving back to the community. I want to show our children (our future) that by helping others they too will receive a sense of accomplishment, self-esteem, moral value, and purpose in themselves.”

Good luck to all the guys and the people that they are helping in their community. It sounds like many more lawns — and even more hearts — will be changed for good if the Raising Men team has anything to say about it.
