This is What Happens When A Six-Foot Balloon is Filled With Liquid Nitrogen

Screen Shot 2016-07-19 at 09.21.31

Very recently, Grant Thompson from “The King of Random” Youtube channel posted a very interesting (and some what amusing video) of what happens when you pour liquid nitrogen into a balloon.

This has turned into a mini series where the size of balloon is increasing in every video. This time a six foot mega balloon has been used.

When the liquid nitrogen, which is at an extremely cold -195.8°C (-320.4°F), is introduced to a higher temperature, it expands. This boiling causes the balloon to inflate.

However, the results are quite rapid and with the balloon surface becoming very brittle in the process – well you might want to stand back.

Thankfully, Grant does all the experimenting for us so we can sit in the comfort of our video screens and observe what happens. Enjoy.
